5 out of 5 stars Buy A Kindle! NOt a NOOK!!!!   March 14, 2010
M. shoemaker
PLease be aware of the new NOOK and stick with the kindle, I had a nook for 5 days and all it did was freeze up all the time, bought many books, never would give me my money back altho they never would download, lost over 100.00 on books alone,, Needles to say took it back and got my money back, Their customer support for it is horrible,, you have to wait about an hour or longer for them to even get to you.. It is horrible. I love my kindle, love amazon and would highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Very user friendly   March 14, 2010
Jimmy Woodbank (UK)
Vey user friendly in almost every way. I particularly like the dictionary definitions immediately available for every word behind th cursor. The quick download of books makes it much better than the Sony Reader. The piece de resistance is the easy conversion from text to audio book on my recently purchased novel. Great for a car journey where you can take up from the book you were reading in bed the night before !

3 out of 5 stars Great bit of kit watch out for wireless premium if not in US   March 14, 2010
Capitalistic (Scotland UK)
As I have said, great bit of kit, good use of the technology. However,as non US residents we pay $2.50 more for each book than US citizens. This is a premium for the wireless download. Amazon should be upfront about this. I am not sure if Hawaii or Alaska pay a premium for being so far from the Continental US but if they do not then we are subsidizing US kindle users or paying over the odds for books. Amazon may just be seeing away to make a fast buck, but whatever, it leaves a bad taste which is why I am only giving the kindle a 3 stars. The loss of the 2 stars is for Amazons underhand profitering.Go on Amazon print this!!

4 out of 5 stars Kindle 2 is almost there!   March 14, 2010
Prometheus
The Kindle 2 is great! So I'm not going to waste everyone's time writing everything good about it. If you've read Amazon's marketing stuff you know all the good stuff. So I'll just mention five key improvements that I think need to be made.

1. Touchscreen! Eventually, all e-readers will have one integrated into the main screen, because buttons are so 'last century'. Why take up space with buttons and a keyboard when you can do all that stuff invisibly with a touchscreen?

2. Colour! Eventually all e-readers will be in colour because many books have colour illustrations.

3. This thing needs a handle! Every time I use it to read, I'm fumbling around trying to figure out where to rest my fingers. Can I find a place devoid of buttons? Do I balance the thing precariously? Do I use both hands - and if I do, how do I turn the page? I think the first Kindle cover manufacturer to incorporate a nice neat removable handle for the Kindle will make a fortune. It needs a handle on the back or a couple of handles - one on each side.

4. More books! Most books I want to read aren't available in Kindle versions.

5.Why can't I buy Kindle books for my friends and have them sent to their Kindles?

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful device   March 14, 2010

I don't have a sufficient wireless connection where I live so I have to down load books through my computer but I still love the device.
