Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
These four hungry hippos want to munch a bunch of marbles! The faster you press their tails, the more marbles they try to chomp! If your hippo gobbles the most, you win! For 2 to 4 players. Game includes: Hippo game base, 4 Hippo heads, 4 levers, label sheet, 20 marbles, instructions. Color of parts may vary.

Editorial Review
Four hippos try to eat as many marbles as they can--as fast as they can. This game is fast-paced and riotous for kids who get to take turns popping a white marble into the ring, then furiously pressing on their hippo's levered tail to catch the prize. As if that's not enough, in the advanced game, all 20 marbles are released at the same time. Utter mayhem ensues, and whoever snares the most marbles wins. If only it would get kids to clean their plates as well as those pudgy hippos do! --Lynne Sampson

3 out of 5 stars No way to store it!   January 4, 2009
Jennifer Darby
My kids 4 and 6 got this game for the holidays. Although they love playing with it the pieces come apart from the game constantly. Also since the box is so small it is very difficult to store. We like to keep all of our games neat and together and this one is impossible to keep track of. I will have to buy a storage container just to keep track of the pieces. I think the milton bradley really goofed on this one!

1 out of 5 stars Cheap and doesn't function properly   January 1, 2009
Katie (Texas United States)
I loved this game when I was a kid. That is why I was so excited to buy this and play it with my daughter. Where did this game end up? In the trash. The plastic "marbles" are worthless, did not roll correctly and the heads of the hippos fell off constantly. The whole thing was cheaply made. Unfortunately I do not have the one I grew up with. I agree with many of the other reviews. Save your money on this one. If you can find an original (not cheap plastic and plastic marbles) go for it.

2 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Affects the Fun Factor   December 30, 2008
Picky Shopper (Seattle, WA)
Four year old loves this game and frankly so do I. Hippos are poorly constructed and sometimes you have to do a timeout so you can fix them.
If only they made it like they did 25 years ago. Such a delightful game...if only...
And helloooo....you have to pull the whole toy apart and deconstruct the already flimsy turtles so you can fit it back in the box.
As long as I can stand it on the living room floor is how long we'll play with it. Too much hassle to pull it apart.

4 out of 5 stars Fun game   December 29, 2008
C. Kirkland (Waldorf, MD)
My kids had this when they were a kid. My daughter thought my granddaughter would like it since she had seen it at day care. She is 2 3/4 years old. She couldn't wait for the adults to figure out how to put it together (which was simple, we just weren't paying attention). Now that's all I hear in the background when I call her house. She plays it constantly and understands the concept of it. Can't go wrong with toys the younger ones grew up with and remember how much fun it was. Thanks for keeping this toy out there.

4 out of 5 stars Tons of fun but needs some tweaking.   December 25, 2008
J.Dalton (Los Angeles)
My three year old son got this for Christmas and did not want to stop playing it! My hands got tired! He had an absolute blast. BUT My husband and I both agree that we remember the game being much more durable and better made. We did not experience it falling apart like a few other reviews. It held up pretty well considering how rough my son is. But you can tell it was made pretty cheap.

Even so.. still a fantastic game and my son LOVES it.
